All in all, Secrets the Vine has great potential to be one of the best resorts in Mexico but will need to polish up their look before they can be. Note that they only serve very cheap wines and liquor, anything above the lowest quality you will have to pay for. Wines/alcohol beverages are a bit of a joke too. Im not a big meat eater and there weren't many options for me but my boyfriend enjoyed the food here more than Secrets Maroma. While we were there, we watched two magicians perform, both who made several mistakes on stage, laughed it off and made questionable performances. There were a few singers who were incredible and entertainment team were very active and involved but the various outsourced acts were a complete joke. Something you should only see in a basement of a dying bar. Entertainment was beyond lame and extremely low budget. Sergio at Dragons the Asian restaurant was very knowledgable and attentive to our allergies and made our dinner a memorable one. Jorge and Carlos at Nebbiolo the Italian restaurant were both extremely attentive, knowledgeable and provided a level of service that you would get at a very high end restaurant in the states. They went above and beyond to provide us the best service both for breakfast and lunch for the 8 days we were at the resort. Cesar and Abiel (tag team) at the Market Cafe were exceptional in their service. However a select few went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. In general the staff were nonchalant and less attentive. It was all quite tacky and in your face to be honest. On another occasion we were asked to meet a member of the staff at the preferred bar on the 21st floor to claim our "special gift" when we got there we were being sold on time share and our gifts were "coupons" and "discounts" to various activities on the resort I.e., spa. On several occasions while we were waiting on our table we got approached by staff trying to sell expensive bottles of wine in exchange for a table immediately. We understand that this happens in every resort but here it was over the top and to a point of extreme. On several occasions we felt extremely uncomfortable in instances of staff trying to sell. Secrets the Vine gave us an overall "we want your money" feel. We did not feel we were as welcome to the resort as we did at Maroma. Though, got peaks of the other rooms/views and they all looked beautiful! Level of service compared to Maroma was significantly noticeable. We had the wrap around balcony Hard Rock/ocean view on the 27th floor which was absolutely stunning. I recommend you get the regular room and regular services because in all reality any upgrade at Secrets resorts (in our experience) is just a cash grab and waste of time. The only time I made use of the butler was when I craved for a coconut and she offered it to me for a SMALL charge of $20.00 USD!!! Absolutely ridiculous. This year we got the preferred package which comes with a floor butler (absolutely useless), and other various unnecessary add ons which we didn't make use of, could have done without and saved tons of money. Both times we went with the upgrade option and recommend you do not go this route. Last year we stayed at Secrets on Maroma beach in Playa del Carmen. My boyfriend and I just returned from our vacation at Secrets the Vine. We understand that this happens in every resort but here it was over the top and to a point of. Level of service compared to Maroma was significantly noticeable. Though, got peaks of the other rooms/views and they all looked beautiful!

When global-writeroom-mode is active, the function writeroom-mode can still be called to enable or disable writeroom-mode in individual buffers (regardless of their major mode, of course). This function enables the global effects and activates the buffer-local effects in all (current and future) buffers that have a major mode listed in the user option writeroom-major-modes (by default only text-mode). Alternatively, if you wish to use writeroom-mode in all buffers that have a particular major mode (e.g., text-mode, markdown-mode), you can use the global minor mode global-writeroom-mode. The global effects are of course activated only once and they remain active until writeroom-mode is deactivated in all buffers. It is possible to activate writeroom-mode in more than one buffer. In addition, there are several more options that are disabled by default but can be enabled in the customisation buffer. But writeroom-mode is meant for distraction-free writing, so these effects do make sense.Īll these effects can be disabled or customised. Because writeroom-mode is a minor mode, this isn't entirely on the up and up, since minor modes aren't supposed to have such global effects. The other effects apply to the current frame.

(It was due to return before the pandemic happened.) Byrne and his 11 collaborators wear gray suits with no shoes, and play instruments without cables. In American Utopia, Lee sinks his teeth into a crafty production that toured the globe, then had an extended run at New York’s Hudson Theater. The show is an effort to beat a drum and get them back. The action begins with Byrne holding a giant plastic brain (after the song “Here”) and explaining how scientists have discovered that infant minds are brimming with connective pathways, which disappear as they get older. It expresses the essence of this moment in America: the fraying and dissolution of community understanding. Another thank-you is extended to Colin Kaepernick, whose image is briefly projected onto the stage when Byrne and company take a knee.Īmerican Utopia doesn’t have a plot - it’s an hour and forty-five minutes of Byrne and Talking Heads songs, plus something that’s not quite stage banter and not quite a monologue. Lee knows he’s not in competition instead he’s gotten the opportunity to build the second bookend, thirty-five years later. How could there not be? In 1984, Demme collaborated with Byrne to make Stop Making Sense, a movie that nine out of 10 reasonable people would call the greatest concert film ever made. There’s a thank-you to Jonathan Demme in Spike Lee’s filmed version of David Byrne’s Broadway show, American Utopia. The queen has confidence that the dwarfs will think that Snow White is dead and they will bury her alive. However, there is an antidote to that condition and it is love's first kiss. After transforming, she plans to put Snow White in Sleeping Death by using an apple. She mixes a potion that could transform her into an old beggar woman. When it answers that is it still Snow White, the queen shows it a box containing Snow White's heart, but the mirror tells her that it is the heart of a pig she has in her box. In the night, the queen asks her Magic Mirror who now is the fairest of them all. In order to make sure Snow White is dead, the queens orders the Huntsman to bring back her heart in a box. When he refuses to do such command, the queen angrily reminds him of the penalty if he fails. She sends her Huntsman to put Snow White into the forest and kill her there. The queen sees a prince flirting with Snow White and is jealous of it. One day, when she asks the mirror who is the fairest of them all, it answers that Snow White is the fairest of them all. In the prologue, the queen is living with her stepdaughter, Snow White. You know exactly when it’s prime time to get that melee strike in.īeing a beta, everything we’re reporting about could change in a matter of weeks, and it’s already doing so based on community feedback. Weapons instantly give you an idea of their effectiveness, showing both visually and concretely that they’re doing some serious damage to your opponents. Focusing on physicality, the game makes it so useless to just stay in one place and snipe your way through tens of kills as you’d usually do in a Call of Duty game. The dev team has nailed the gameplay loop Halo fans love the most: every fight is about shooting, but there’s also a deadly dance taking place while the shooting happens, where you’re both trying to get into melee range to finish the opponent off with a quick bash from your rifle’s butt. Halo is content with its size there and it doesn’t chase battle royale or bigger games such as Battlefield 2042 down, keeping its DNA mostly unaltered.Įvery map offers tight spaces and continuously pushes you to have 1v1 fights, which is why you’ll always feel useful and able to get some kills or gain some objective points for your team. This also works for Big Team Battle, a playlist where you can play 12v12 matches (the biggest player count in the game). Developer 343 Industries found a good formula, especially in the Arena matches set on more contained maps, where you don’t have much downtime between matches, rounds, and even deaths. It nails the right balance so you don’t burn out too soon and don’t have to wait for too long before you can’t actually get some action, which is a problem in shooters with bigger maps. Halo Infinite ’s gameplay is a proper return to form – basic in a good sense and featuring a very balanced pace. This is somewhat akin to an active OLTP server, or a TempDB drive. If you're willing to work around the spin down issue, and don't care about NCQ or Power Management ATA commands, then the Story version can be a useful drive, removed from the enclosure or not. I was going to try dumping the flash chip on both versions of the drive and do a comparison, but I'm not sure if these feature settings are stored in there, or maybe in a special protected area of the drive itself. I even tried flashing with the bare drive firmware, and no change. I checked the drive with Samsung's ESTOOL 3.01v, and I couldn't change any of these settings to match the bare drive OEM version of the HD204UI. I had 90+ stop/start cycles in SMART data after only a few hours of use.Īlso, the SATA ATA spec commands of NCQ and Power Management are disabled on the Story version (HD204UI/VP4). Changing the AAM setting will have no effect. This is done on the drive itself, not on the USB bridge adapter inside the Samsung Story. The HD204UI/VP4 (Story version) is configured to spin down crazy often. Just know that the HD204UI/VP4 inside the Samsung Story HX-DU020EB/A62 is a specially customized version of the HD204UI, quite different from the bare drive OEM version. but I'm sure they'll just get a slap on the wrist. Other Thoughts: I wouldn't be surprised if some years down the road there is a federal investigation into price/warranty collusion between Seagate and WD, just like there was one for RAM manufacturers. Seagate's reliability is notoriously bad and they have unfortunately shut down Samsung's superior manufacturing facilities while simply slapping Samsung badges on Seagate drives produced in Seagate facilities. Hopefully the market will force prices down in the next few months.ģ. High prices and short warranties are nothing to be excited about. The same lack of competition is driving warranty lengths down. With only two manufacturers on the market now, Seagate (Samsung) and Western Digital (Hitachi) they do not have any incentive to lower prices, and now that they know the public is willing to pay much higher prices for HDDs expect the high prices to stay. The primary reason prices have not come down is not because of the flood effects, but because of hard drive manufacturer consolidation. It happened 7 months ago.there has been plenty of time to get manufacturing capacity back online. The flood excuse is getting a bit long in the tooth. Similar discounts were offered on Hitachi drives as well.Ĭons: 2. Newegg several times offered a $10 discount and another $10 rebate making this drive $60. Regular pre-flood pricing for 2TB was $80ish. $100ish is not a bad price considering how much higher HDD prices have been since the flooding hit manufacturing facilities, but this price is still a 67% premium over pre-flood prices. Viewers liked "Judge Ripley," and hopes were high that the sizzling on-screen chemistry between Denton's character and the one portrayed by Kim Delaney would convince ABC to give the show another season to improve its ratings. 2001 found Denton back at ABC after Steven Bochco cast him as "Judge Augustus "Jack" Ripley," in his struggling new series, Philly (2001). That summer, he co-starred in "Asylum" at The Court Theatre and, at the end of the year, headed for Canada to film two MOWs for TNT - The Pretender 2001 (2001) and The Pretender: Island of the Haunted (2001). The summer of 1999 found Denton heading back to the theater, starring in the world premiere of the play, "In Walked Monk." During the fourth season of The Pretender (1996), Denton added three more guest-starring roles to his credits - the first on Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place (1998), another on Ally McBeal (1997) and the last on the hugely popular The West Wing (1999). Lyle" on NBC's The Pretender (1996), as a series regular. When ABC shelved the sitcom at the last minute, Denton continued producing chilling portrayals as "Mr. Immediately afterward, JD made another pilot, this time for his own series, "The Hanleys". Med" and a stint on the silver screen in That Old Feeling (1997), were preludes to his first appearance as "Mr. A spot on Moloney (1996), a pilot for ABC called "L.A. A small part in The Untouchables (1993) (the series, not the movie), JAG (1995), Sliders (1995) and Dark Skies (1996). Showers" in "The Diviners" - which gained him a much coveted nomination for a Best Actor Joseph Jefferson Award (Chicago's only theater award). He added a steady string of roles and accolades to his quickly growing list of achievements, including one of the leads in the world premiere of "Flesh and Blood", performing in and composing the music for "the Night Hank Williams Died", and his portrayal of Kentucky preacher "C.C. In the years that came between the two, JD was a company member at The Griffin Theater and at Strawdog Theater Ensemble. In Chicago, his first role was as "Stanley" in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and his last was as the terrorist "Bebert" in the French farce "Lapin Lapin". Although he spent the next four years selling advertising for two radio stations and then for the CBS affiliate in Nashville, Denton's heart was already in another place and, after a short stint in North Carolina, he headed to Chicago to try his hand at acting full-time. His role as "George Gibbs" in a production of "Our Town" turned out to be only the first in a long line of plays that he would do, first in Nashville and then, later, in North Carolina, Chicago and California. The second of three children born to a dentist and his wife in Nashville, Tennessee, Denton grew up in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, attended Goodlettsville High School, briefly played basketball at a junior college, then went on to graduate with honors from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, snagging a degree in advertising as a television/journalism major on the way out the door.Įven though his father was involved in community theater, Denton didn't jump in until he was 23, during the Tennessee bicentennial in Nashville, Tennessee.
